Class Information

I would like to point out something Very Important regarding the classes I instruct:

All of my classes are NRA Certifiied Classes;  each student who passes receives an NRA Certificate. The Basic Pistol Shooting course IS one of the certified courses for obtaining a Carry and Conceal permit for Illinois FOID holding citizens and will count for 8 hours of the required 16 hours.  I have been teaching CCW classes and after the first of the new year, I will be teaching Utah CCW classes.

******   Please go to my Testimonials Page for the latest comments from my CCW class. *******

As classes are scheduled, they will be posted on the NRA website.  They will also post the class date, time and place on this site.

Course:  NRA Basic Pistol Shooting

This course teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude for owning and operating a pistol safely.  the course is eight (8) hours long and includes classroom and range time.  The students will learn to shoot revolvers and semi-automatic pistols.  The students will learn NRA firearm safety rules, pistol parts and operation, ammunition, different shooting stances and cleaning procedures. Students will also receive several materials including the NRA Guide to the Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook.  There is an examination and course certificate at the end of the class.  No FOID card is necessary!  All supplies and firearms and ammunition is supplied.

For Illinois residents:  It will be a "SHALL" carry, but one of the prerequisites will be that the person must have taken one of several safety courses.    Please contact me to schedule your class.  See my page, "Class Locations & Schedules" on this site for scheduled near future classes.  We still don't know what else will be required.  The "current" education is now 16 hours of classes, the most in the nation!

Course:  NRA Home Firearm Safety

This is a non-shooting course and teaches the students the basic knowledge, skills, and to explain the attitude necessary for the safe handling and storage of firearms and ammunition in the home.  The course is four (4) hours long and classroom only.  The class focuses on the three (3) NRA rules for safe gun handling,  primary cause of firearm accidents, anatomy of a firearm, loading and unloading firearms safely, ammunition components, cleaning, care and safe storage for firearms and ammunition.  Students receive the NRA Home Firearm Safety handbook, and the course completion certificate.

Course:  NRA First Steps Pistol Orientation

This course focuses on the NRA's response to the American public's need for a firearm orientation program for new firearm purchasers and is four (4) hours long.   The instructor teaches the student on safe handling and shooting for their specific pistol.   This class is geared for students who have already purchased their firearm and want specific training also on the dis-assembly, cleaning and re-assembly for their friearm.  Student completing the course are awarded  a certificate.

NOTE: No live ammunition is allowed in any class room.

Individual Instruction:  Private Lessons

Private lessons are available for one or two people at a time.  Prices vary depending upon location, whose ammunition is used and who pays for the range fee.  Please allow for sufficient lead time to arrange accommodations.

New Class dates have been published on the NRA web site.  Please go to "Locations" page for detailed info, then go to our "Favorite Links" page and select "NRA Traing Courses" link to register for a course.

Course:  Refuse To Be a Victim

I feel this course is one of the most valuable courses provided to people who want to learn more about protecting themselves during their everyday actions.  It is a non-shooting course and will be available to everyone.

Course:  CCW for Illinois and Utah

The Illinois CCW course is 16 hours, but I teach it in two parts:  8 hours is the NRA Basic Pistol Shooting; the second 8 hours is Illinois law, firearm handling and situal arwareness.

The Utah CCW class is 4 hours of classroom Utah law.
